Inside this issue

  • The Last Laugh: A t-rex-sized toddler vs. a toddler-sized t-rex
  • But before we get to all that, here’s what’s…

On My Mind

When I started Gap to Gig, I wanted to create a place for honest conversations about work that fits around life, not the other way around.

I’ve met so many dads asking the same questions again and again:

  • How do I find work that feels meaningful?
  • How do I stay present with my family and still grow?
  • How do I rebuild after stepping away?

This podcast is my answer not because I have it all figured out, but because I know the best answers come from real people doing the work and real subject matter experts.

Every episode is a reminder that meaningful work and family life aren’t at odds. They can build on each other if you design them to. I hope these stories help you see what’s possible and give you a few ideas for your own version of work that fits your life.

Lessons from the First Three Episodes

Episode 1: John Tarnoff on Reinventing Work and Confidence

John shares how losing everything in the tech crash led him to redefine success and why confidence doesn’t come before you act; it comes from acting anyway.

“You can’t think your way into confidence. You build it by moving forward.”

This episode drops on Tuesday, November 11th.

Episode 2: Jesse Holmes on 10 Minutes to Meaningful Progress

Jesse’s approach is simple: 10 minutes of deep focus can reshape your life, your business, and your relationship with your kids.

“Clarity comes from doing what you already know; not waiting to know what to do.”

This episode drops on Tuesday, November 18th.

Episode 3: Jacob Stone on Standing Out and Staying Human

Jacob lifts the curtain on what really happens in hiring. He explains how adaptability, patience, and communication, all things dads practice daily, are superpowers in today’s workplace.

“You can train technical skills. Soft skills are what make people invaluable.”

This episode drops on Tuesday, November 25th.

Together, these episodes explore what it really means to design work that fits your life. Not theory. Not hype. Just real dads finding new ways to make it work.

Future Episodes

And in the weeks ahead, we’ll speak with a former Olympian and professional athlete, a documentary filmmaker, and a dad who overcame serious injury and rehabilitation to not just find work that brings joy and success, but also be present at home.

The Last Laugh

Every week on the podcast, we end with a speed round of five questions that have nothing to do with anything. My favorite: Would you rather spend 24 hours with a toddler-sized T-rex or a T-rex-sized toddler?
